Dental implants
offer a permanent solution for your
missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a substitute for
a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder
shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled
at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often
the implant can be placed at the same time as removal
of the tooth all on the same day.
If an implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface it can be screwed into position and if it does not, it is usually tapped into place. The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughnesses on the implant surface.
In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures. Click here for illustrated information.

PLANMECA’s new PROMAX 3D CBVT (Cone Beam Volumetric Tomography) X-ray offers 3-dimensional imaging; digital panoramic imaging; digital panoramic bitewings; and digital Cephalometrics all with the use of one complete X-ray system. ProMax 3D CBVT also offers the smallest footprint of any 3D CBVT imaging unit available, making this cutting-edge technology available for use on-site in virtually all doctors’ offices. The ProMax 3D CBVT X-ray’s effective exposure time is only 6 seconds with a rapid scan rate of 16-18 seconds per image. PLANMECA ProMax 3D also offers the ability to choose your required ROI (Region of Interest) through segment selection (i.e. upper jaw; lower jaw; upper right quadrant; etc.) This feature reduces both the image scan time and the effective patient radiation dose. The ProMax 3D CBVT flat panel semiconductor-based sensor provides high-sensitivity, and excellent image resolution. This technology can be used for Implantology, Maxillofacial surgery, Orthodontic planning, and TMJ analysis along with many other general diagnostic procedures.
The PLANMECA ProMax 3D CBVT X-ray is one of the few 3D systems to offer true 2D panoramics and Cephalometrics, eliminating the need for multiple imaging units.
PLANMECA’s 3D CBVT technology is available factory installed, or as an upgrade to all existing ProMax X-rays.
PLANMECA ProMax 3D CBVT is expressly designed to comply with the needs of modern surgical dentistry. It complies with a multitude of diagnostic requirements: those of endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, implantology, dental and maxillofacial surgeries, and TMJ analysis.
With PLANMECA ProMax 3DCBVT, study volume sizes are selectable to meet diagnostic needs without excess radiation outside the area of interest.
Thanks to its small footprint, PLANMECA ProMax 3D CBVT makes effective three-dimensional imaging possible in every dental office.

The full-color TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) guide the operator with text and clear graphic symbols. All exposure settings are logically grouped and easy to understand, which makes the imaging procedure quick and allows the operator to fully focus on patient positioning and communication.
